Talk of Pearson’s Edina Restaurant closing had swirling for nearly a year until it came to reality in February. After a very quick turnaround, the 50th St. Café (612.927.4464; 3808 W. 50th St., Mpls; 50thstreetcafe.com) took its place. House recommendations include the pineapple upside down pancakes served with a vanilla cream sauce and cinnamon butter, the pumpkin pancakes and the house-shredded hash browns. The smallish diner is open until 3 p.m. daily, serving other classics like waffles, French toast, and several variations of eggs Bennie.
