Who doesn’t love a good movie? Here is an even better question: Who doesn’t love a good movie that represents their home state? Minnesota is known for a lot of things: snow, lakes, snow, hockey and more snow. So it’s about time we got props for something new--namely the dozens of iconic movies that have been filmed here. The Walker Art Center and the Minnesota Film and TV Board are teaming up to help put the Land of 10,000 Lakes on the map with Location: MN, a film festival showcasing movies made in Minnesota introduced by the directors, producers and writers who brought our great state to the big screen. Films include Purple Rain, Fargo, Trauma, Sweet Land, Purple Haze, Mallrats, Factotum, Snow, A Simple Plan and Northern Lights.
Want to see firsthand where these Minnesota-made movies were filmed? The Walker has created two digital scavenger hunts using the mobile app SCVNGR (Location: MN Pub Crawl and Location: MN). The treks will take you around to various Twin Cities filming locations where you can snap photos, answer questions and earn a free ticket to any of the Location: MN screenings (one ticket per completed trek). Download and log in to SCVNGR to get started. To redeem your prize, bring your smartphone or iPod Touch to the Bazinet Garden Lobby desk. You betcha this is going to be a good time.
