Dancing to Downtown

Northrop Dance draws inspiration from all over the city and globe but has always remained at Northrop Auditorium on the University of Minnesota’s East Bank. That’s all about to change with renovation plans underway to craft the concert hall into a multi-use area including study spaces and University offices. Dance fans shouldn't fret though--Northrop Dance season will just move downtown to Hennepin Theatre Trust theaters (like the Orpheum) this fall during the renovations.
The 2011-2012 season, called “Northrop Moves” (get it?) features an array of performances including an edgy version of Alice in Wonderland and a welcoming performance to the new art director of the program. You can buy season ticket packages for the upcoming season here, while individual performances will go on sale in August.
