Waconia’s landmark ballroom will reopen May 28 as the Lake Waconia Event Center, run by Lancer Hospitality (the folks behind the Science Museum, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory and more) and Carver County Parks. The center originally opened as the Paradise Night Club in 1933 and was most recently called Waconia Lakeside Ballroom.

In addition to hosting wedding receptions, meetings and picnics, the new incarnation will also revive the center’s popular Sunday afternoon polkas beginning with the Leon Olsen Band on June 14 from 1:30–5:30 p.m.
