Can't-Miss Concerts
By Bobby Hart 2/01/10 1:23 PM

If you’re craving a little live music, Maple Grove Senior High (9800 Fernbrook Ln. N; 763.391.8700‎; district279.org/sec/mgsh) is hosting some upcoming concerts you won’t want to miss.
Cedarcrest Academy Presents Billy McLaughlin:
Billy McLaughlin is coming to Maple Grove Senior High Auditorium on Tuesday February 16. McLaughlin, an acclaimed, innovative acoustic guitar performer and composer since the 1980s, is in the midst of one of the greatest musical-comeback stories of our time. In 2001, the Minneapolis native was diagnosed with focal dystonia, an incurable neuromuscular disease that stole his ability to play the music he loved. Five years later he began a comeback, relearning his signature style by playing left handed. Now he’s taking his inspirational talents to Maple Grove. The proceeds from the concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will benefit Cedarcrest Academy’s Music Appreciation and Music Curriculum programs. Tickets are $20 for students, $25 for general admission and $40 for premium seating. For more information and tickets, call 763-494-5387 or visit www.cedarcrest.org.
High School Band Concert:
Come see some of the best musical talents Maple Grove High School has to offer when the Crimson’s symphonic band and concert band join forces on February 18 at the MGSH Auditorium. The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free.
High School Choir Concert
The MGSH varsity choir and Voce Bella join forces for an exchange concert March 1. This concert, which is scheduled to go from 7:30-9 p.m., is also free.
