Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
| By Stephanie Dickrell |
Once again, the District Del Sol in the west side of St. Paul is hosting a two-day fiesta to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (yes, it's a few days early ... but they needed the weekend). And there’s something for everyone.
Friday boasts the lowrider car show and hydraulic showdown for car lovers. There are also two stages of entertainment, featuring acts from Korzel Musical and Tejano 2000 to local hip hop darling Maria Isa.
Saturday morning features the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta parade at 10 a.m., as well as lots of activities for kids—a sports zone and inflatable rides--and adults—a history area, a jalapeno eating contest, and even a “People’s Choice” Salsa Tasting Contest. Four stages will have music from 1- 6 p.m. with music from fourteen acts including the youth mariachi from Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Banda la Unica de Jerez. The Corona and Dos Equis is sure to flow aplenty, along with good music and family fun.
