Give Some Food, Get Some Pampering
By Ellen Burkhardt 1/28/10 4:54 PM

Life is all about giving and receiving. Besides the occasional holiday and birthdays, this usually relates to nonmaterial things: advice, a listening ear, time. But this Sunday, Rocco Altobelli Salons and Day Spas are taking, giving and receiving to a whole new level. Hosting Food for Fashion, a fashion, food and fund drive for Second Harvest Heartland, the upper Midwest's largest hunger relief organization. The salons raised over $10,000 and 3,721 pounds of food last year. This year, they're looking to exceed that amount and fill the food shelves which have been hit hard by the recession. By bringing three food items and donating $20, you can walk away with a new cut and style or accent color; $15 to treat your nails to a mini manicure; $10 gets you a brow wax or chair massage; $7 and your lip can be hair-free. With multiple salons to choose from, there's no reason not to make an appointment and do some quality giving and receiving this weekend.
