Ah, the power of good styling. Brooklyn blogger
Sheena Matheiken is proving that it's entirely possible to wear the same thing every day, but continually make new outfits through killer accessories and a lot of creativity. On her blog, The Uniform Project, she vows to do exactly that, with photos to prove it.
Each day she puts on one of seven identical black dresses designed by her friend Eliza Starbuck. The dress is reversible with buttons down the front, so she can wear it multiple ways. Matheiken gets the majority of her accessories from places like Etsy.com and Ebay, as well as vintage and thrift stores. She includes a full list of styling credits with each outfit photo she posts.
Not only is this a brilliant fashion challenge, but it's all done in the name of charity. The project is a fundraiser for
The Akanksha Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in Mumbai that brings education to slum children. Matheiken was raised in India and forced to wear a uniform to school every day. On her blog she explains that "despite the imposed conformity, kids always found a way to bend the rules and flaunt a little personality. Boys rolled up their sleeves, wore over-sized swatches, and hiked up their pants to show off their high-tops. Girls obsessed over bangles, bindis and bad hairdos."
I love this idea! Do you think you would have the creativity it takes to spice up the same basic outfit every single day?
