Twin Cities hip-hop lives
By Chuck Terhark 12/15/08 11:56 AM

I hate the name "Twin Cities." It makes everything sound awkward. Can't we get a cool nickname for once, like Philly, Cincy, Indy, PDX, NOLA or Chi-town? My vote: Twincy. Discuss.

Anyway, my least favorite nickname of all, "Mill City" (doesn't it sound like something the Chamber of Commerce came up with?) is used in an otherwise fantastic new Web site, millcityscene.com. A web mag for the local hip-hop scene, it looks poised to run with the ball dropped by other online hip-hop forums, most notably DUNation.com, which is somehow still careening off the rails.

MillCityScene.com celebrates its launch on Dec. 27 at the 7th St. Entry with a show featuring Big Quarters--who killed at the big Heiruspecs show last weekend--and Kristoff Krane, who's awesome new CD is featured in next month's METRO. (Also on the bill: Carnage, Hyder Ali and El Gaunte.) Twincy represent.

See the problem is I don't live in the Twin Cities. I live in Minneapolis. St. Paul doesn't get to come along for the ride. Death to Twincy.
