Ah, Tupperware: the multi-purpose plastic savior of today’s kitchen. Microwave-safe with easy-snap covers, there’s nothing not to love about the colorful, stackable, reusable containers. Tupperware has become so popular, in fact, that the lightweight bins of fun have expanded their rein outside the kitchen and onto the stage. That’s right, the Off-Broadway show Dixie’s Tupperware Party celebrates America’s favorite space-saver with Dixie Longate, the fast-talking Tupperware Lady. Receiving a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance, the show opened in New York in 2007 and began its nation-wide tour in September 2008. After making its way through the rest of the country, the Tupperware party has weaved its way to the Midwest, where Tupperware and hot dish go together like two peas in a pod. Get ready to expand your collection of plasticware this winter because saying no to Dixie Longate and her many alternative uses for Tupperware would be like saying no to a second helping of Grandma’s green bean casserole.
